The jam was caused when hundreds of tourists took to the precarious mountain road with the aim of visiting the remote mountain-top village of Guo Liang Cun.
Instead, they spent the day halfway up a mountain with nowhere to go.
The road, which is known as Cliff Corridor, has pretty impressive stats. It’s 1,250 metres long, five metres wide, four metres tall, and has 35 ‘windows’.Locally the road is known as ’13 Heroes’, as amazingly, it was carved out of the rock face by just 13 young men and villagers over a period of five years.
Next time you’re stuck in a traffic jam, spare a thought for the hundreds of Chinese folk who spent their May Day bank holiday stuck in a massive tailback halfway up a mountain. FUN!!!
