Gideon is part of a loving family of mum Rae, a school business manager, dad Peter, an architect and two older brothers Zachary, four, and Henry, six.
A happy child, Gideon is well supported by his parents and loved ones but, as Rae explains, it’s a condition that is often hard to manage.
She says: ‘Gideon food seeks a lot. He steals food from the floor, from bins, from the cat. If the fridge is left unlocked he will go through it. He steals food every day.’ While techniques such as putting padlocks on fridges and installing gates are recommended for dealing with the condition, Rae is keen for Gideon to live as normal a childhood as possible.
She explained: ‘His food seeking has started relatively early. Some people are lucky enough not to have to consider it until their child is well into adulthood. Already we have to lock the kitchen and Gideon eats something he shouldn’t every day.
She also explain what causes Gideon's cruel condition :

Gideon lives with the rarely talked about condition Prader-Willi Syndrome, a genetic disorder that means that he will never feel full up and will constantly have the compulsion to eat.
Even more cruelly, PWS leaves Gideon with a fraction of the metabolism those without the condition have so, despite his compulsion to constantly eat, he requires a much lower calorie intake.
This means that sufferers of PWS are at a huge risk of life-threatening, obesity-related illnesses.
