The Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia announced June 18, Thursday, the first day of Ramadan.


The moon sighting marks the announcement of the holy fasting month start.

The court urged residents to keep an eye out for the crescent moon on Tuesday, however it was not sighted on Tuesday. As Wednesday is the last day of the month of Shaaban, Ramadan will begin on Thursday. Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt, Yemen, Kuwait, Jordan, Palestine also announced Thursday as start for Ramadan.
