President Muhammadu Buhari has landed in the US capital ahead of planned July 20 meeting with Barack Obama.
The development has been confirmed by Garba Shehu, the presidential special assistant on media and publicity.
He confirmed that everything is going as planned and the leader of the nation arrived the Joint Base Andrews International Airport.
President Buhari is said to be lodging at the Blair House, his official residence all through his stay in Washington DC.
It should be noted that a sitting Nigerian president has never gotten such a welcome from the United States.
White House invited Nigerian leader via statement on June 27, saying that Barack Obama is looking forward to President Buhari’s visit, during which both leaders will be discussing the threat of Boko Haram and how to tackle insurgency.
