Liverpool make £13.9million transfer offer for Real Madrid’s Asier Illarramendi

Brendan Rodgers looks set to continue his summer revamp of Liverpool’s squad after launching a £13.9million transfer offer for Real Madrid’s Asier Illarramendi.

The Reds boss is keen to improve his first-team options in this transfer window, and has plenty of cash to spend following Raheem Sterling’s move to Manchester City.

Reports in Spain claim an official approach has been made for the 25-year-old midfielder, who has been told by new boss Rafa Benitez that he has no future at the Bernabeu.

A source reported that a €20m offer has be submitted and is likely to be accepted by Madrid as it would allow them to recoup the majority of the fee they paid Real Sociedad for Illarramendi’s services two years ago.
