A woman has been accused of pretending to be a man by tying her chest with bandages and covering her hair with a woolly hat.The story started after Gayle Newland, 25, befriended the alleged victim, whose name kept secret, by posing on Facebook as a man named ‘Kye Fortune’.
After speaking online for weeks, they exchanged phone numbers and during their conversations ‘Kye’ explained his high-pitched voice by the Filipino heritage.
As their relationship developed,the pair agreed to meet up at a hotel for sex on the condition that the victim was blindfolded at all times, Chester Crown Court has heard. It was also alleged that the victim was told she couldn’t touch Kai’s penis but believed she was having sex with a male. Newland is now on trial for five counts of assault by penetration between February and June 2013.
When the duo went to a hotel for sex Newland asked her victim not to touch his ‘penis’ and to don a blindfold, saying he was insecure about his body following an accident. The two then had sex, with Newland using a prosthetic penis, while her victim believed she was having sex with a male. Next time they met at the victim’s flat, where she became suspicious and removed her blindfold for the first time. She said:
“Something hadn’t felt right that time that he came round. I was sat on the bed and something told me to pull my blindfold off. She pulled her hat down over her face and said ‘it’s not what you think’. I was just so shocked I let this person into my life and shared my deepest darkest secrets with him.
People get raped by males and it sounds sick but I think I’d prefer it. I just think of all the stuff I let her do to me, like foreplay, and it makes me feel sick.”
Prosecutors said the same sequence of events happened a number of times, once at a Travelodge in Chester and then at the victim’s home.She was later caught by police but told officers that they had been living a ‘fantasy’ alleging that the victim knew the truth all along.
