As a result of the twin blasts in the two satellite towns, 20 persons died and 21 others sustained different degrees of injuries. The Boko Haram sect claimed responsibility for the suicide bombings and released photographs of the terrorists involved in the incident.
Leadership reports that
Solomon Arase, the inspector-general of police, confirmed the arrest at the Conference of Senior Police Officers, and revealed that the suspects aged 25 and 27 were from Kogi state.
According to him, the arrest has foiled an attempt by the suspects to undertake another attack in the Federal Capital Territory.
Arase said that 12 already prepared homemade explosives concealed in soft drinks cans and 28 pieces of electric detonators were recovered from the suspects.
The inspector-general assured Nigerians that the police would do their best to ensure public safety that could be attained by the cooperation of the public.
