Arguably the four biggest, most influential artistes in Nigeria 2Face, D’Banj, P-Square and Asa got recognized beyond the shores of the country.
They got nominated for the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA) “Evolution” award alongside other African big acts like, Black Cofee (South Africa) Fally Ipupa (DRC) Anselmo Ralph (Angola), Chameleone (Uganda) Samini (Ghana) and HHP (South Africa).
The Channel Director of MTV Base, Tim Horwood maintained that, “The MAMA “Evolution” award honours established artistes who have made an indelible mark on African and global music culture, taken African music to new territories around the world, pushed the boundaries of creativity, and shaped the soundscape of contemporary Africa.
” The fans will go into voting and MTV Base will decide the winner of this new category.
Fans of the iconic Nigerians nominated can start voting for them on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtags #Evolution2Face, #EvolutionPSquare, #EvolutionAsa or #EvolutionDBanj.
The award will be presented at the 2015 MAMAs in South Africa on Saturday, 18 July. The ceremony will be broadcast live that day on MTV Base.
